Mahmoud Chouki Cigar Box ProjectMahmoud , "rdquo" -> Mood" Chouki is a Moroccan master guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator currently living and working in New Orleans. His art draws together music from around the globe. In addition to training and performing with conservatories around the world, Chouki also teaches music at the Lycée Français de la Nouvelle Orléans and is the music curator for the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA). Most recently, he composed the music score for the 2021 Sundance Award winning film, , "rdquo" -> Ma Belle, Ma Beauty." Chouki was also awarded 2020's , "rdquo" -> Best Emerging Artist" by OffBeat Magazine's annual Best of the Beat Awards. His New World Ensemble has been steadily gaining acclaim, earning him Gambit Weekly's 2022 "Best World Music Artist'' Award at their annual Big Easy Awards. For this performance, Mahmoud and his band will play with handmade instruments including a cigarbox guitar and trash kit drums. Tonight, Chouki presents his cigar box project, featuring: Mahmoud Chouki - cigarbox oud, cigarbox guitar Brett Gardner - cigarbox guitar Rurik Nunan - cigarbox violin Ben Fox - wine box Bass Jafet Perez - trash kit drums Shows at 7:30pm & 9:30pm Doors at 7:00pm & 9:00pm Restuarant is Open 5pm - 10pm for dinner before or after your showtime: Advance Ticket Holders can now automatically make dinner table reservations for the Dining Room online via OpenTable.com ! Evan Stanley and Nick Simmons have always been like family - they played together as babies. However it wasnt until December of 2024 that the two actually played together, musically, for the first time in what was supposed to be a one - off instagram reel. They were shocked by the immediate response, and the undeniable chemistry.In February of 2025, they tried writing together for the first time and Stanley Simmons was born. They recognized they had stumbled on something magical and set out to make the kind of record they had each always wanted to make, but never had the chance to . Having grown up together on the road with their fathers, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of Kiss, music was always a part of their lives. But the thought of collaborating with each other professionally just never crossed their minds until this last year.After hearing the first demo they recorded in their respective bedrooms, legendary producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Fleetwood Mac, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Dave Matthews, etc.) immediately threw his weight behind the band and jumped at the chance to produce the debut full length record as well as manage the duo.Now, with a full length complete and set for release on August 28th, Stanley Simmons is preparing for their first North American tour this fall. They make their New Orleans debut at Gasa Gasa Sept 19th! Velvet Daydream will open the show.
