How the Pulse is measured

The Pulse is built from Place to Be's live radar: a continuously refreshed, cross-source view of upcoming events worldwide. Events are aggregated from independent feeds, ticketing (Ticketmaster), sports schedules (ESPN), open cultural data (OpenAgenda), nightlife listings (Resident Advisor) and public holidays, then deduplicated so an event carried by more than one source is counted once.

Every event is scored from 0 to 100 for how hot it is, from crowd signals: expected and predicted attendance, the venue, whether it is part of a tour or series, and its category. An event is "trending" when it scores 66 or higher. Scores refresh through the day as the picture changes.

Cities are ranked by the count of trending events in the next 30 days. Raw event totals are skewed by high-volume open-data listings in a handful of cities, so the ranking deliberately uses the trending signal rather than totals. A city needs at least 25 tracked events in the window to be ranked. This snapshot was generated September 13, 2026.
