The highly anticipated match will bring world-class football to Sweden and give Scandinavian fans a rare opportunity to see two global giants compete on Swedish soil. Manchester United is one of the most successful and historic clubs in world football. Founded in 1878 and based in Manchester, England, the club has won numerous major trophies, including three UEFA Champions League titles (1968, 1999 and 2008) and a record 20 English league championships. The club's legendary 1999 season, when United secured the historic treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, remains one of the most iconic achievements in football history. We have the best fans in the world, and this schedule gives us a great opportunity to connect with our supporters across Europe. Paris Saint-Germain, founded in 1970 and based in the French capital, has emerged as one of Europe's most prominent clubs over the past decades. PSG has dominated French football with multiple Ligue 1 titles and numerous domestic cups. In 2025 the club reached a historic milestone by winning its first UEFA Champions League title as part of a remarkable continental treble season, cementing its status among Europe's elite clubs. The team coached by Luis Enrique is still in the race for the 2025/2026 edition, currently competing in the quarter-finals. Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have produced several memorable encounters in European competitions. The teams have met four times in official matches, sharing the wins with two victories each. Football history in Sweden Sweden has previously hosted major matches involving Manchester United. Most notably, the club lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy at Friends Arena in Stockholm in 2017 after defeating Ajax 2--0 in the final. The upcoming match at Ullevi continues Sweden's tradition of staging high-profile international football events and reinforces Gothenburg's reputation as one of Scandinavia's leading football cities. A summer showcase at Ullevi Ullevi, one of Scandinavia's most iconic stadiums, has hosted numerous international matches and major sporting events. The August 8th clash promises to deliver an exciting summer evening of elite football as Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain bring star players and global attention to Gothenburg. Ullevi is an arena with a long tradition of top international matches and great audience experiences ever since the 1958 World Cup.
