Scullers Jazz Club
Michael Prentky Bio Michael Prentky is a musical omnivore and polyglot on trombone. His debut album sad boy:ADD:apocalypse (Fall 2025) is described as "intense but... satisfying as it is daring" (Noah Shaffer WBUR). The music combines disparate interests such as Frank Zappa, Klezmer and Vijay Iyer. His follow up project is an original klezmer brass band; dreaming to usher klezmer into the 21st century. As a freelancer, navigating performances with rapper 50 Cent, Mozambican Funk band Kina Zor茅 (featured on NPR Tiny Desk), avante-garde jazz with the Walking Clich茅 Sextet, or Balkan Romani music with Sarma Brass Band requires an adventurous and reliable musicianship. sad boy:ADD:apocalypse description sad boy:ADD:apocalypse is an epic Zappa-esque suite for a strings, brass and rhythm section. This mammoth odyssey, six years in the making, is Prentky's unwavering commitment to authenticity. The writing is lush, emotive, wistful and cathartic creating powerfully immersive live performances. Prentky's sonic worlds showcase his eclectic interests: dreamy Beach House guitar riffs, avant-pop orchestral strings, breakbeat klezmer, pacific brass chorales, confessional poetry and raucous instrumental frenzies. , "rdquo" -> the subject matter is intense, but Prentky's music is as satisfying as it is daring" - Noah Schaffer WBUR (Boston's NPR) , "rdquo" -> Deep revealing of some personal feelings on these tracks, it's a very nice work" Ken Field WMBR (MIT Radio) listen to sad boy:ADD:apocalypse here All GA sections (Main Floor GA & Miles Davis Mezzanine) will be seated by host and are first come, first served (other than where a reserved sign is posted to table).
