Though he grew up playing drums, Young taught himself fiddle during a hospital stay after a rock climbing accident, asking for his grandfather's heirloom fiddle and finding not just rehabilitation but transformation. His debut album Della, named after his daughter, introduced listeners to his intimate, narrative-driven songwriting.
